Name: Introduction to Mindfulness Webinar
Date: October 21, 2020
Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM EDT
Event Description:

Curious about all the buzz around Mindfulness these days? Wondering why your therapist, doctor and others are suggesting breathing exercises and meditation as a way to manage symptoms of anxiety, grief, depression and more? Join us for this Grief Matters Topic to find out.  Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive to or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Research has shown that mindfulness helps us reduce anxiety and depression by teaching us how to respond to stress with awareness rather than simply acting instinctively, unaware of what emotions or motives may be driving us.

Your presenters Elizabeth Kraska LISW-S and Deana Thatcher LISW-S will provide education on the science and research behind mindfulness practice and its application in grief work.  Elizabeth will then lead you through a few mindfulness exercises to help you get a sense for how this practice can work in your daily life. You will also be provided with resources to explore further exercises or learn more on your own.

Join us from the comfort of your own home for this FREE interactive webinar to learn more and determine if Mindfulness might be something to add to your self-care tool kit. Complete registration at https://cornerstoneofhope.org/columbus/monthly-education-series-grief-matters/
